The 2024 MTB World Cup calendar has been announced and consists once again of 8 stages for cross-country specialists. However, they look a bit different in 2024.
Unfortunately, a World Cup stage in Valkenburg will also not be available in 2024. Both the disciplines of enduro and downhill have one less stage, but here, too, the World Cup visits some new locations.
In this article, you will find an overview of all World Cup stages in 2024.
MTB World Cup 2024: Cross-country Olympic (XCO) and Shorttrack (XCC)
Similar to last season, there are 8 stages in the cross-country World Cup for 2024. The format remains the same in 2024, with short track (XCC) on Friday and cross-country Olympic (XCO) on Sunday. The result of the short-track race on Friday determines the starting order for the XCO race on Sunday.
The athlete who gathers the most points by the end of the World Cup will be crowned the winner of the 2024 World Cup. This year, successors are sought for Nino Schurter and Puck Pieterse, who respectively claimed the overall titles in 2023.
While the 2023 World Cup started in Nové Město, Czech Republic, the 2024 season kicks off overseas with a back-to-back MTB World Cup weekend in Brazil. Notably, the World Cup doesn’t return to the previously featured Pétropolis but debuts in Mairiporã. Although Mairiporã makes its first appearance in the UCI World Cup, it has hosted various MTB events previously and is steadily becoming a hotspot for mountain biking.
Just a week later, the MTB caravan moves around 500 kilometers for the second stage of the World Cup in Araxà – Minas Gerais, also in Brazil.
A month after the Brazilian duo, the MTB World Cup heads to Europe for its first European stage at the familiar terrain in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic, at the end of May. This is followed by another back-to-back World Cup weekend. After the usual stage in Val Di Sole, Italy, the World Cup heads to Switzerland a week later.
Unfortunately for Nino Schurter, there’s no home race in Lenzerheide in 2024. The Swiss World Cup stage is held about 300 km away in Crans-Montana Valais. This location hosted the Enduro World Series in 2021 and 2022, and the Swiss Bike Cup in 2023. In 2025, Crans Montana will host the World Championships, making the 2024 World Cup a preview and introduction to the venue.
During the week of June 28th to July 7th, all World Cup disciplines will converge at one location for the first time in 2024. Haute-Savoie, France, hosts this stage slightly earlier than last season. The XCC and XCO races are expected to take place in Les Gets, similar to last year.
After the event in Haute-Savoie, the MTB World Cup takes a break. However, it’s not to give the pros rest; quite the opposite. 2024 is an Olympic year, and the World Championships will also take place during this period. At the end of July, we’ll discover the successors of Tom Pidcock and Jolanda Neff in the XCO discipline. A month later, it’s time for the World Championships, this time in Pal Arsinal, Andorra, where a World Cup stage was held in 2023.
At the end of September, the World Cup traditionally concludes in America, with no stage in Snowshoe but in Lake Placid instead, where the MT Van Hoevenberg mountains will provide the backdrop for the World Cup. A week later, the curtains close on the World Cup in Mont-Saint-Anne, Canada, and we’ll know who performed the best overall and is crowned the 2024 World Cup winner.

World Cup 2024: Downhill (DHI) & Enduro (EDR)
The Enduro World Cup starts a bit later this year and no longer kicks off in Australia, where last year, the season opened with two stages. Conversely, the first downhill race occurs a bit earlier than last year. After a fantastic World Championship in 2023, the downhill World Cup returns to Fort William in Scotland for its first stage. The first Enduro race in early May takes place in Italy.
In mid-May, you can enjoy both downhill and enduro spectacles in Poland in an entirely new setting. Then it’s off to Austria for the well-known venue of Leogang.
Although Leogang no longer hosts XCO and XCC in 2024, both downhill and enduro races are on the schedule. A week later, downhill riders head to Val Di Sole, where you can also witness cross-country specialists in action.
Another week later, all disciplines converge in Haute-Savoie, France. In the meantime, the Enduro World Cup makes a stop in Switzerland, not in Lenzerheide but in the Aletsch Arena in Bellwald Valais.
The Enduro World Cup concludes in early September in Loundenviielle – Peyragudes in France. Here, downhill specialists also compete. Similar to cross-country, downhill riders wrap up the 2024 World Cup season in Mont-Saint-Anne, Canada.

World Cup XCM 2024
In 2023, the endurance athletes were treated to four XCM (cross-country marathon) stages. Unfortunately, upon the release of the 2024 World Cup calendar, there was still no news regarding the XCM stages for 2024.
Meanwhile, the dates have been announced. Regrettably, only three stages will take place in 2024.
The first marathon World Cup of 2024 begins, unlike the XCO, not in Brazil but in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic. The second stage is set in the vicinity of Haute-Savoie, where this year marks the second consecutive year of featuring all disciplines.
For the final stage of the XCM season, the entire caravan heads towards MT Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid, USA, at the end of September.
World Cup Calendar 2024 (XCM)
- May 24 – 26: Nové Město na Moravě (Czech Republic)
- June 28 – July 7: Haute-Savoie – Les Gets (France)
- September 27 – 29: MT Van Hoevenberg – Lake Placid (USA)
