The Dynaplug Air has been my go-to kit for nearly five years now whenever I need to plug a tubeless tire on the trails. In my review, you’ll learn all about my experiences with the tool, how it performs, and whether it delivers in real-world situations.
⭐️ Verdict: High Quality & User-Friendly (8,8/10)
I always carry the Dynaplug Air with me while mountain biking. With this tool, you can plug a tubeless tire and simultaneously inflate it using a CO2 cartridge.
The tool is very robust and of high quality. It works very well. Pushing the plug into the tire requires some force, but I’ve succeeded every time, thanks to the sharp point.
Inserting the plugs into the tool can be a bit fiddly at times.
The tool, extra plugs, and a CO2 cartridge fit perfectly in the storage pouch!

The Dynaplug Air is an innovative tool of American make that allows you to plug tubeless tires while simultaneously being able to inflate them again. This can be done using a CO2 cartridge, which you can screw onto the back of the tool.
In all the time I’ve had the tool, I’ve needed it a few times on the road. I used a small plug each time and could seal the hole quickly. With the plugged tires, I could keep cycling until they were worn out.
When I was looking for a tubeless tool, the dual functionality of this Dynaplug immediately appealed to me. It does come at a cost, but you get top quality and a lot of convenience in return.
Quality of materials
Dynaplug is an American company specializing in DIY tubeless repair kits for bicycle tires and automobiles, trailers, scooters, motorcycles, etc. This focus on a single product type is immediately evident in the quality of, for example, the Dynaplug Air.
I find the tool very robust, and although it is fairly small, it feels very sturdy. I therefore expect that I will not have to replace the tool quickly.
Despite its compact size, it is not difficult to handle the tool. When I use this Dynaplug, I immediately feel I have a strong and reliable tool in my hands. I have nothing to say about the quality other than that it is excellent!

Ease of use
Thanks to its high quality, using it is also very easy. The first time you need to plug a tire, it may take some getting used to. You have to exert quite a bit of effort to push the plug through the tire’s rubber.
Fortunately, the pointed tip of the plugs does help somewhat with this. When inserting the plug into the tire, it’s important to push the holes in the tool’s shaft into the tire. Failure to do so will result in the CO2 gas from the canister being wasted outside the tire.
Once you’ve pressed the plug into the tire and inflated it with the CO2 canister, all left is to pull the tool out. This action will cause the plug to detach and remain in the tire.
The end will then protrude slightly, as you can see in the above picture of my tire. Leave this piece in place or remove it with a small knife.
If you plan to purchase the Dynaplug Air, I recommend trying the tool at home at least once. It will cost you a plug and even a CO2 canister, but once you’ve done it, it will be much easier and faster when it matters on the trails.
Moreover, you can easily control the CO2 flow with the canister itself. In principle, you don’t need an entire canister for your tire!
The dual function – plugging and inflating – was the decisive factor for me when I was looking for a tubeless repair kit.

Functionality
This tool with dual functionality is almost unique in its kind. Nowadays, the brand Lezyne also offers a similar tubeless kit in its range.
As I mentioned earlier, the dual functionality was my decisive factor in choosing this tool. Additionally, I prefer the Dynaplug plugs over the so-called tire worms.
With the tool, you also get three extra small plugs, two threaded CO2 cartridges, and an extension hose that inflates tires through the (Presta) valve. So, you have everything you need to go out with the tool and plug multiple tires immediately.
I personally don’t use the hose. I carry a separate CO2 pump (and sometimes a hand pump or electric model) to inflate tires further.

Price
The only downside of the Dynaplug Air, in my opinion, is the price. I’ve needed the tool a few times on the trails, and just for the convenience alone, I find this tool worth its price. You’re back on the bike in literally a minute.
Initially, I thought, “Wow, that’s quite a hefty price for a tool that you hopefully won’t need or will rarely use.”
There are cheaper solutions that can also plug a tire. However, you need to inflate the tire afterward, which isn’t so bad in principle.
I prefer the path with the least hassle, and in that regard, it’s hard to overlook the Dynaplug Air…

Size & storage
I always cycle with a backpack, so I can easily stash the convenient storage pouch of the Dynaplug Air in one of its compartments. However, it can also fit snugly into the back pocket of your jersey, a saddlebag, or a tool bottle if you’re not using a backpack.
The pouch provides space for the tool, the spare plugs (in their plastic packaging), and 2 CO2 canisters. I always keep one in there while the second CO2 canister remains screwed onto my CO2 pump head. I bring along a few extras for longer rides in the Ardennes or abroad.
The storage pouch containing the tool, extra plugs (I have two spares left), and one CO2 canister weigh approximately 98 grams. The filled pouch has the following dimensions: 10 x 7.5 x 3 cm / 3.94 x 2,95 x 1,18 inch (length x width x height).

Brand Reputation
Dynaplug has been in operation since 1991, establishing a highly esteemed reputation for innovation and quality. The various models and accessories are manufactured and patented in the United States. These reliable tools are globally recognized and highly valued.
Just like in my case, the ease of use combined with the exceptionally high quality contributes to global customer satisfaction.
Given its strong commitment to customer satisfaction, Dynaplug continuously evolves and improves its products, always taking into consideration the needs of its customers.

Who is the Dynaplug Air suitable for?
If, like me, you prefer as little hassle as possible when dealing with a flat tire, then the Dynaplug Air is definitely the perfect tool for you, too. Thanks to its dual functionality, you’ll be back on the road super quickly. You can leave the plug in place until the tire is worn out and needs replacing.
It does require a bit of an investment, but thanks to its high quality, I’m convinced you won’t need to purchase another tool like this again. However, if you find yourself needing to plug tires frequently, you’ll need to occasionally replenish your supply of plugs (and CO2 cartridges).
Dynaplug Air Review: How I rated this product
I purchased the Dynaplug Air myself after experiencing a flat tire on the trails one day, without having any plugs. That same day, I bought the Dynaplug Air. I had looked at various options before making the decision, but honestly, when I saw the Dynaplug Air and researched it further, I was immediately sold.
As of writing this review (February 2024), I’ve had the tool in my backpack for almost 5 years. Over those years, I’ve needed the tool a couple of times on the go. However, as I’ve advised earlier in this review before, I also tested it at home.
Based on my own experiences, I have evaluated the Dynaplug on various aspects (quality, ease of use, brand reputation, etc.).
Alternatives to the Dynaplug Air
If you’re not completely convinced by the Dynaplug Air, which I find unfortunate, there are certainly other good options available. You can find them listed below:
Lezyne Tubeless CO2 Blaster
A similar but more affordable tool with dual functionality. This tool operates using bacon strips instead of plugs.
Pros
Pressure regulator
5 bacon strips
Storage can with manual
Cons
Cannot be used as a pump
Less compact
Topeak Tubi Master+
With this 2-in-1 tool from Topeak, you can plug tires and inflate them with the CO2 pump. It doesn’t work simultaneously like the Dynaplug Air, but you have both a tubeless tool and a CO2 pump in one single tool.
Pros
Combines tubeless tool and CO2 pump
Three bacon strips
Mounting strap
Cons
Pricey
Final thoughts
Although dealing with a flat tire on the trails isn’t exactly enjoyable, I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with this tool. And that’s simply due to its ease of use. For me, the Dynaplug Air has more than justified every penny I’ve spent on it.
I’m also confident that I’ll be able to use this tool for a very long time. The quality is superb despite the tool being quite compact. If you can overlook the price, then in my opinion, this is the perfect tool to quickly fix flat tubeless tires on the go.
Of course, you still need to find the hole in the first place, haha! That might sometimes be the trickiest part of the whole job.

Dynaplug Air
The Dynaplug Air is a very high-quality tool and offers dual functionality. In addition to plugging, you can immediately inflate the tire to the desired pressure using a CO2 cartridge that can be screwed onto the tool.
The ease of use of this tool is phenomenal, although it’s best to test it at home before relying on it during a ride. Once familiar with how it works, fixing a flat tire becomes a breeze.
The biggest downside of this tool is its price. This could be an issue, considering it’s a tool you (hopefully) won’t need very often. However, for me, the quality and ease of use were worth the price.

High quality
Dual function
Compact storage
Easy to use
Cons

FAQ
How does the Dynaplug Air work
First, you need to locate the puncture in the tire. Once found, insert a plug into the Dynaplug Air tool and push it through the hole in the tire. Then, unlock the CO2 cartridge, allowing the CO2 to flow into the tire and inflate it to the desired pressure. Finally, after the tire is inflated, remove the tool from the tire. This action leaves the plug securely in place, effectively sealing the puncture and allowing you to confidently continue your journey.
