No bullshit, just honest stories from the trails
In the new concept of mountainbikevibes.be (3.0), you’ll only find reviews of products we actually use. No marketing fluff, no freebies in exchange for five stars—just our own experience on and off the trails.
We used to make buying guides too (you can still find them in the archive), but we’ve stopped doing that. Why? Because we’d rather tell you what we actually use and why, instead of compiling lists of products we’ve never even touched.
What you can expect from us
We buy (almost) everything ourselves
The vast majority of products you see here are paid for with our own hard-earned cash. Yep, that means we sometimes make mistakes and buy stuff that disappoints. We share those stories too—because that’s where you learn just as much.
Do we occasionally get stuff sent to us?
Sure, now and then. But here’s the deal: if we receive something to test, it’s crystal clear in the review. And more importantly: it changes NOTHING about our opinion. We approach every product as if we paid for it ourselves. Doesn’t work? We’ll say so. Cracks after three rides? You’ll read about it.
Products sent in exchange for a review? We always ask for compensation—our time is valuable, after all. We also make crystal clear agreements upfront. BUT our opinion stays honest—and there’s no amount of money that’ll change that.
Thoroughly tested, not just a random opinion
Every product that appears here has been put through the wringer. We ride with it, test it in different conditions, and give it time to show its true colors. Reviewing a product after one ride? Forget it.
Even the products we buy ourselves come after quite a bit of research. Comparing specs, checking user experiences, weighing alternatives—the whole nine yards. Because we don’t want to end up with products that don’t deliver either.
Articles with value
Besides reviews, we also write stories about trails, techniques, maintenance, and everything mountain biking related. These always come from our own experience or thorough research. No clickbait, no filler content just to have something online.
Do we sometimes get articles submitted? Occasionally. But they get scrutinized: does it add value for our readers? Is it authentic? If not, it doesn’t appear on the site. Simple as that.
What we NEVER do (like, seriously never)
Let people put words in our mouth
We’re open to collaboration, but only if we have complete freedom to be honest. Otherwise, we might as well not do it at all.
Post reviews without actually testing
Quickly pull a review out of thin air just to have content? Never. If we review something, we’ve tested it. Period. That sometimes means reviews take longer, but we’d rather do that than give you unreliable info.
Buying guides (not anymore)
We made them, but we’ve stopped. The old buying guides are still somewhere in the archive (for the nostalgic souls among you), but we’re not making new ones. We’d rather focus on products we actually use and tell authentic stories about them.
Products involving animal cruelty
This is non-negotiable: we don’t review products that involve animal suffering. We’re vegan and make no exceptions. Leather saddles, wool gloves, or whatever—you won’t find them here. We believe you can mountain bike just fine without making animals suffer for it.
The bottom line
Mountainbikevibes.be is all about honesty, authenticity, and passion for mountain biking. We tell you what works and what doesn’t, based on our own experience on and off the trails. No sugarcoating, no hidden agendas, just straight-up advice you can actually use.
Don’t trust our opinion? Fair enough. But then you’re missing out on good stories and honest reviews. 😉
